Each year the club hosts a Sporting Lunch that has a celebrity guest speaker to recount some of the escapades that they have experienced in their career.

On 30 November 2018 there were two guests - both members of the 1971 Lions.

The two speakers were Fergus Slatery and David Duckham.

We are grateful to the club's President, Humphrey Creed, for proposing OOSO as one of the beneficiaries of this fund raising event, and also to one of their members, Brian Baker, who was a patient of Nick Maynard and who seconded Humphrey's proposal.

Prior to the Sporting Lunch Jackie Beaumont visited the club to give them some background about OOSO; what we do and how we help the Clinical Team with the money that is raised.

On 19 March 2019 Jackie was invited back. She shared a convivial lunch on the top table with the principals of the club.

Following the meal, Humphrey Creed, presented Jackie with a cheque for £3,500.

Jackie gave a short speech to thank the members and to underline how their donation will assist the Clinical Team at The Churchill with their "shopping list" of current requirements.

After the meeting Jackie admitted that she was so moved by the amount raised that she had to fight hard to avoid breaking out in tears.
